Abstract

The estimation of annual maximum rainfall in the region where no data is available is important for hydrologic design. In this study, the method of L-moments was applied for fitting regional distribution for annual maximum rainfall in Tokat region. As no significant relationship between rainfall and elevation of the stations was found, the region was first divided into two regions but they were not homogeneous. Thus, the region was divided into three regions that were found to be homogeneous. The use of goodness of fit test showed that Generalized Logistic and Generalized Extreme Values distribution are the best regional distributions
for homogeneous regions.
