Abstract

In this study, an artificial neural network model was employed to predict the swelling behavior of cross-linked
dextran hydrogels. The predictions from the artificial neural network model were compared with those of the response
surface methodology and the nonlinear regression models. The results show that an artificial neural network model gives
an excellent correlation with the observed data and it has a good capacity for modeling the phenomena under
investigation as compared with traditionally methods such as response surface methodology and non-linear regression
models.
