Abstract

In this paper, a method is presented for modeling and parameters setting of thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) controller in multimachine power system to improve transient stability. In this paper will explain the computational effectiveness and efficiency of the genetic
algorithm (GA) optimization techniques for setting TCSC-based controller parameters in front of non-linear optimization problem and in a
simulation environment is run. With a minimum objective function, which will include the generators rotor angle oscillation changes, will
improve the system transient stability. The proposed TCSC controller on a multi-machine system is tested and simulation results for performance accuracy are presented. The non-linear simulation results confirm the impact of the proposed method to improve transient stability of
power system in a multi-machine with a TCSC controller. The simulation results also show that the proposed TCSC controller to be effective
in damping of low-frequency oscillations.
